Hindu homes and temples in Kerala reverberate with the recital of Ramayana as the Karkitakam (July –August) -- a month of the Malayalam calendar observed as Ramayana Masam. In Kerala, it has been a tradition to read Adhyatma Ramayanam Kilippattu written by Thunchath Ezhuthachan during the Karkitakam. K.S.Chithra has delightfully sung the excerpts from all the important chapters - BalakanDam, Aranyakandam, Sundarakandam, Yudhakandam apart from the dhyanam and phalasruthi. Adithya stuti is also sung in this album as a part of the Yuddhakandam. Aaditya hrudayam punyam sarva shatru vinaashanam. Jayaavaham japennityam akshayyam paramam shivam This holy hymn dedicated to the Sun deity will result in destroying all enemies and bring you victory and never ending supreme bliss. Carnatic musician, K.Krishnakumar has set music in Classical ragas exceptionally appropriate to this classical poetry. A best seller.
